SHANO - The Scottish Heritage Association of Northeast Ohio was incorporated in 1990. with the express purpose of cultivating "fond recollections of Scotland, its history and traditions, its literature and ideals, its minstrelsy and song, and its customs and amusements". The events leading up to this are detailed in the history found by clicking on this link.
The rampant lion among the thistle branches is the SHANO logo, containing two very recognizable Scottish symbols.
The emblem at the top right of the page is the Clan Grant Badge. This can be used and worn by clansmen. The bordering belt and buckle symbolize their fealty to the Chief of the Clan. The embordered picture is a portion of the full image, without the belt, that can only be worn by the Chief.
The emblem at the top left of the Home Page is the badge of the Order of the Thistle, Scotland's highest honor. To learn more, visit this link.
